Just proposing was enough for the 34-year-old Michael Waltrip Racing driver.

“It was hard enough to get through that,” Bowyer told reporters Thursday in Las Vegas. “I can’t plan two things at once. … I’m done. I did what she wanted. She’s got the ring. Now she can do the rest.

“I don’t want to do a lot. Something quick and easy and have a reception, a party.”

Bowyer admitted his proposal won’t win him any awards for romance. But, hey, as long as she said, “Yes,” that's really all that matters.

So how did he do it? Well, he gave a version to reporters Thursday that was hard to believe but quite possible knowing Bowyer's limited attention span.

“I woke her up, pissed her off and told her I found something she might want to see,” Bowyer said. “She wanted to go back to sleep. I finally got her to roll over and she got surprised.

“That’s how it went down.”

While he might not have a wedding planned, it appears that Bowyer has at least put some thought into a bachelor party.

“I’m going to have a tour,” Bowyer quipped. “I’m going to have like a shirt for a concert tour and a box to check each date off and then go to the next one.

“I think that would be all right, wouldn’t you?”
